Dandelion Chai for Liver Support

Looking for a delicious and healthy way to support your liver health? Look no further than this dandelion chai latte recipe! Dandelion root has been traditionally used to support liver health by increasing bile production and aiding in the elimination of toxins. Combined with aromatic spices like star anise, cinnamon, and cardamom, this dandelion chai latte is not only a tasty way to start your day, but also a great way to support your liver function. So, brew up a pot and take a sip! I use a stovetop percolator for this recipe, but you could also try boiling the ingredients in a pot of water on the stove and then draink with a sieve.

Ingredients:

  • 2-3 star anise pods

  • a pinch of ground cinnamon

  • a pinch of freshly grated nutmeg

  • 2-3 whole cloves

  • 3-4 cardamom pods

  • a pinch of freshly ground black pepper

  • ground dandelion root

  • milk of your choice

  • Sweetener of your choice (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Add star anise, cloves, and cardamom pods to a mortar and pestle. Grind until fine.

  2. Fill the bottom of your stovetop percolator with water.

  3. Add the dandelion root, cinnamon, nutmeg, black pepper, and ground spices from the mortar and pestle to the percolator's filter basket.

  4. Place the percolator on the stove over medium heat and allow it to percolate for 5-10 minutes. Be careful not to let it boil.

  5. Once the percolating process is complete, remove the percolator from the heat and let it sit for a few minutes to cool down.

  6. While the dandelion chai is cooling, froth the milk using a milk frother or whisk it vigorously.

  7. Pour the dandelion chai into a mug, and add sweetener if desired.

  8. Finally, pour the frothed milk on top of the dandelion chai and sprinkle with some extra cinnamon or nutmeg and enjoy!
